This talk will some of the results and applications of Peter Lax's 1968 paper on the topic. It will begin with a discussion of the history of the Kortoweg-de Vries equation and some techniques used to analyze it. We will then proceed to develop the Lax Pair and discuss its broad isospectral properties.
