The Restricted Three-Body Problem as a Perturbed Duffing Equation
Series: Analysis, Dynamics, and Applications Seminar
Location: Hybrid, Math 402/Online
Presenter: Don Wang, Department of Mathematics, University of Arizona
We first write the equation of the restricted three-body problem as a perturbed Duffing equation. We then prove that, for any given negative Jacobi constant of sufficiently large magnitude, the surface of unperturbed parabolic solutions breaks to induce homoclinic tangle for all but at most finitely many mass ratios of primaries.
Speaker will be in-person.
