VIGRE Program Network meeting 9/27/2008
Overview
The Southwestern Network was formed as part of our VIGRE program to stimulate interactions between many schools across the Southwest. We had a small meeting of Network partners, representing schools in Arizona, Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico, on Saturday, September 27th, 2008. The meeting was hosted by Institute for Mathematics and Education and held in the Gould-Simpson building, Room 849.
The first part of the meeting (from 9am - 11am) was devoted to a discussion of initiatives in undergraduate and graduate education in Network Schools. A more detailed program is given below.
The second part (starting at 11am) consisted of a short workshop, directed by Bill McCallum, on the teaching of proof in undergraduate mathematics courses.
